Prof. Sumudu Atapattu

Ph.D (Cantab), LL.M (Cantab), Director of Research Centres, Senior Lecturer, University of Wisconsin School of Law, Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka.
She held a Senior Fulbright scholarship at the New York University Law School and the George Washington University Law School in 2000-2001. She taught International Law and Environmental Law as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka for several years. She also served as Consultant to the Law & Society Trust, Colombo. She has edited several publications and coordinated research for the annual State of Human Rights Report of the Trust. In 2002, she edited the State of Human Rights Report. In 2001 she served on a panel of experts on liability and compensation issues for the WHO’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.
Her book titled “Emerging Principles of International Environmental Law” was published by Transnational Publishers in November 2006 and in August 2006 she started working as the Associate Director of the Global Legal Studies Initiative at University of Wisconsin Law School where she has been teaching International Environmental Law for several years.
