This Issues Brief provides a short survey of the international law that the members of the UN may consider in implementing SDG 1 No Poverty, focusing on its policy and governance implications. It provides a concise analysis of the global SDG to end poverty from a legal perspective and highlights the ways that international law and related regional and domestic legal innovations can contribute to its achievement. This Issues Brief also addresses the legal obstacles that the international community and individual States might face in their efforts to implement the SDG to end poverty. Finally, it notes the importance of policy integration across the SDGs in global and national processes, and provides examples of innovative international policy, governance and regulatory initiatives that might assist the international community and individual States in overcoming these obstacles and implementing the SDG
