Communications Officer

Ayman Cherkaoui is the returning Communications Officer for CISDL. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University with minors in Management and East Asian studies as well as an aeronautical concentration. He also holds a law degree from the University of Montréal. His passion for international affairs arose from the numerous trips he made younger thanks to his father, an airline pilot. Ayman went on an exchange in 2009 that allowed him to study Chinese Law in Beijing. Furthermore, Ayman represented the University of Montreal at the NMUN simulation in New York City. He earned two outstanding awards collectively with his colleagues and one best delegate award individually. He then led the 2011 University of Montreal delegation for the same event while also simulating the International Court of Justice and winning both his cases.

Ayman’s interest for Sustainable Development arose from a research in 2002 done for a French preparatory school and was strengthened by a climate class course at McGill. He then developed his knowledge as the director of the Environment Pole of the student run Pearson Institute at McGill. Ayman is very proud of the opportunity he was given to contribute to the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law and is involved with an ambitious book project pertaining to aviation and sustainable development law.
