Strategic Objectives
The objectives of the CISDL are to:
- Advance International Sustainable Development Law (ISDL) scholarship through research and analysis.
- Build capacity, education and experience in ISDL.
- Support the development and implementation of stronger ISDL.
- Promote ISDL networks and knowledge dissemination, and
- Strengthen the CISDL as an institution.
The CISDL is a not-for-profit organisation federally incorporated in Canada, committed to fostering engaged, cooperative legal research and dialogue among scholars and practitioners from all regions of the world, especially developing countries. The CISDL develops and maintains strong collaborative linkages between international legal researchers with backgrounds from diverse legal traditions (including the civil law and the common law), who hold academic and professional appointments related to specific fields of international law. The CISDL structure and programmes seek to promote the greater integration of scholarly research being carried out in the areas of international social, economic and environmental law. Through the CISDL, members carry out legal research and analysis, host conferences, academic workshops and legal panel events, and publish books, peer-reviewed journal articles, working papers and legal briefs on the intersections between international social, economic, and environmental fields of law.
